CQC Mock Inspections Service.

The inspection will be carried out by an experienced inspector and conducted in line with the CQC’s new Single Assessment Framework (SAF) introduced in 2024, replacing the older Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs). The SAF includes 34 quality statements which focus on assessing healthcare services. This approach still centres around the five key questions — Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led — but also incorporates the latest quality statements and evidence categories used by the CQC to assess services consistently and continuously across all sectors.

Day 1 – Onsite Review

Our trainer will visit your service to carry out a full mock inspection. You will need to have all key documents ready on the day so the trainer can choose what to review.

Here's what we’ll do:

  • Interview the Registered Manager or main contact person

  • Speak with staff

  • Look at staff and service user files – including DOLS and medication records

  • Check staff supervision and appraisal records

  • Review staff training logs

  • Check logs for complaints and compliments

  • Review incident, accident, and safeguarding logs

  • Read policies and procedures

  • Review daily living records and night records for service users

  • Give feedback to management at the end of the visit

Day 2 – Remote Report Writing

On the second day, our trainer will write a full report based on the findings.

They will also:

  • Review your last CQC inspection report to understand past issues and see what improvements have been made

  • Provide clear, helpful feedback to support better outcomes

Access Needed

To carry out the mock inspection properly, we will need access to:

  • MAR charts (medication records)

  • Staff and service user files

  • Policies and procedures

  • Logs for compliments, complaints, incidents, and safeguarding

The Registered Manager should be available so we can share early feedback before the full report is sent.
